Friday Mirror September 26

Friday Mirror September 26

Last week, there was no Friday Mirror. I was still deep in reflection on the death of my friend Dawn. I promised at that time that there’d be a Friday Mirror this week, and here we are!

So how has the week been?

How have you been feeling?

What have you been up to? What qualities or support do you need to lean into right now and into the coming week? (with thanks to Mark Silver at The Heart of Business)

How have I been feeling?

This has been a week of slowly emerging. Slowly emerging out of the overwhelm of grief into a time of thoughtful reflection.

I have been adding the practice of Divine Remembrance to my spiritual practice, and that is calling my heart to a new state of openness, peacefulness, and calm. It’s lovely.

I’ve also been working on doing some of the preliminary thinking about moving someplace else. And that has its highs and lows, for sure, and we haven’t even gotten to deciding where we’ll go!

What have I been up to?

I have been writing for the Way of the River journal, as you know. As you may or may not know, I’ve also written a post for Karen Johnston’s blog at www.irrevspeckay.wordpress.com.

I’ve also been reading Judy Harrow’s book Spiritual Mentoring, as part of the research I’m doing for my own book. I need other recommendations of good books on Spiritual Direction. Please to share?

In other news, I’ve also been trying to let myself rest, and have spent more time than is strictly productive noodling around on the Internet.

What qualities do I need to lean into?

I continue to need gentleness, and to offer that gentleness to myself. Gentleness and mercy.

I also need to let go some of my laser focus on things that grab my attention in the short term, and allow myself to remember the joys of discipline and focus on long-term goals.

I’m interested in what you have to say. Post here—in the comments—on the Facebook link, or send me a note through the Contact page. I’ll be delighted to hear from you. Blessings on your week.
