For millennia, people have come together to observe holidays, mourn their dead, celebrate unions and births, and other personal and communal rites of passage. Some ceremonies have been determined by seasons in the life of the community and some by needs of individuals.
And for millennia, people have learned prayers and songs to raise power. They have honored holy places—wells, groves, temples, and mountains, to name a few. They have practiced their own skills and learned the arts of changing consciousness at will.
Over twenty years ago, I began my training in the sacred arts of the ritualist. Ritual is the heart of my spiritual life, whether I am practicing divination, setting candles for specific needs, creating community retreats, designing individual altars for myself or others, or writing public ceremony
